About the D2K Campaign

This site was created for guys who have sex with guys. Some guys call themselves gay and some do not. The info on this site is geared for guys no matter what you call yourselves. We only want you to know good and true information so that you can stay healthy and keep those you care about safe!

Smoking Cessation

Quitting smoking is a process and sometimes it takes more than one try. There are so many reasons why you should keep trying. Research shows that your HIV drugs will be less effective if you smoke. If you have HIV and you smoke, you are more likely to develop AIDS defining conditions like bacterial pneumonia or, for women, HPV and cervical cancer.

You are not alone. If you need help quitting, call the Maine Tobacco HelpLine at 1-800-207-1230 or check out their website at www.tobaccofreemaine.org. It's an important first step. The HelpLine offers support that can help you stay healthy tobacco-free for life.
